I know the face on the girl in front, would it be Sandra Pollock, I have some photos I found, the only ones I could get out of the old album, some are stuck in and I couldnt budge them. I found out when we left the hostel as I found mum and dads mortgage, we arrived in mid November 1960 and left June 1964, looked strange looking at the mortgage, they bought the land cash in February 1964 and took out a mortgage on the house in June, was always curious as to when we left the hostel. Would love to see the photo of me up close as I am trying to see Annette Playfore and cant see if properly on this computer _________________ If its to be its up to me |

Now, I know this is going to sound silly, BUT, just a memory. The girl in the top photo at the end of the table, she has a cup next to her. The cup would have been orange colour! Just a grab from my memory. We were issued those cups at East Hills Hostel. They were very sturdy. I think that in the inside, on the bottom, they had a different colour. A sort of pinky pearl. I remember queing up at the Urns in the Mess Hall at East Hills, drinking chocolate milk in those cups. I havent seen them for years. Maybe I will search E bay and try to get a hold of one.
As I said, just a silly memory. (I also recall those slippery trays that were in stacks in the Mess Hall as well.) _________________ East Hills Hostel Aug 1966 to 1968. Nissen Huts 81 and 83d |

I have seen similar cups over the years, and they always bring back memories of the hostel. I haven't seen any for quite some time now, but the last time I saw them, they were in the supermarkets, so keep an eye out there. I might join you in buying a couple next time I see them. _________________ Resident of Altona Hostel, 1963-1965 |

We were given white ones at Dundas, the hard core tea drinkers always had brown stains on the inside. Maybe they introduced the orange ones so the stains wouldn't look so bad. |

They were definitely orange at Altona. I broke or lost mine, and it cost me a shilling out of my pocket money to replace it. |

Every time I see one of those orange cups I think of the hostel, also wooden loung chairs think of those uncomfortable chairs we used to sit on and that horrible couch, you put the bedding underneath, and the blankets were like really thick and definately not warm army blankets _________________ If its to be its up to me |
