I often went to the Newport flicks, but to watch the film, not to snog. lol I was such an innocent back then. _________________ Resident of Altona Hostel, 1963-1965 |

Pat are you sure it was Doreen and Nora? surely my sisters were not like that. I see them both as angels. _________________ Eileen Griffin |

WOW Eileen,I see my sister as an angel too,but I always believed in "seeing things" I know for a fact that Linds used to go to Newport Pictures, dont know what she did there as I never went with her,Now I was a perfect little angel, still am actually ( not) but I am a rare breed!!
AND Pat,you didnt do too bad saying as you fancied all the lads and couldnt get any of them ?? _________________ Carol Myers Altona Hostel Dec 1962 - June 1964 |

Well I can tell you all that neither Nora or Doreen were angels back then, we did get up to some mischief, nothing illegal but things you wouldnt want to tell your mum. I did very well considering, I think I must have been a late bloomer, remember in Altona when everyone started smoking and I didnt realize it was supposed to make you look cool. I still remember Anne Shaw and I at the Altona Park and she had a nice frock on very short and I was up a tree, she had to tell me to get down as there were some nice lads coming, as I said very late bloomer _________________ If its to be its up to me |

I can attest to Nora being a bit of a rebel. My one and only day of wagging from Williamstown Girls school was with Nora. We went down to Willy pier and "investigated" a few of the boats. We didn't take anything, just sat in the cabins. Couldn't do that these days. _________________ Resident of Altona Hostel, 1963-1965 |

Just a minute, i too was there that day when we went on the boats, i remember being hungry and wanting some dinner, I'm sure i took a banana. And how old would i have been? about 7 yrs i never knew it was our Nora took me there. yes she was a rebel. Still think Doreen's a angel. _________________ Eileen Griffin |

Wonder if it was a different day to the day I went with Nora as I can't remember you being with us. I'm pretty sure that wasn't the only time that Nora played truant. Maybe she took different people each time, hehe. I know I felt awfully guilty about wagging, and didn't do it again. lol _________________ Resident of Altona Hostel, 1963-1965 |

Maybe it was another day, can't remember who i was with but there was quite a few of us. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if somebody had come along and caught us. _________________ Eileen Griffin |

You should have wagged with Nora then, she had MUCH better ideas than just hanging round the station, hehe.
As I said, that was my one and only time of wagging from Willy. I have to say, it wasn't my last day of wagging though as I detested Braybrook High which was the school I went to when we left the hostel. _________________ Resident of Altona Hostel, 1963-1965 |

Yes, I remember her very well, her and miss Richards. She didn't like the hostel kids either and made an example of me because I didn't have my PE uniform. She had very long nails and was poking me in the chest with them so I pushed her hand away. She then slapped me across the legs so I hauled off and hit her across the face. This all happened in assembly. lol _________________ Resident of Altona Hostel, 1963-1965 |
