I went to Seaholme State School (now Seaholme Primary) in 1965, when I was living at Marybrnong Hostel. I was just a first grader. Does anyone else recall going to this school in 1965 from a hostel on a hostel school bus? Thanks, Phil

Thanks Olwyn. I just obtained a copy of the booklet 'A history of Seaholme Primary School' (2004) from the school itself, and someone sharing their memories in it said there used to be a bus full of 'Europeans' from Altona Hostel in 1965 arrive each day. I also remeber going to the school from our hostel by bus, so I guess a good portion of the school's roll then were migrants. Regards, Phil Kerslake

I went to North Williamstown State School - on the hostel bus.

I have a class photo in Grade 4B taking in 1961.
Also have a class photo of Grade 6B 1961 which was my sister Anne's class.

I was surprised that you said that Carol. I live across the road from Seaholme School and it's been totally rebuilt in the last two years.

I know but they must have kept to the original plans cause really it looked just the same to me apart from some small building that was near the fence line at the front

Hi Phil, I am surprised to learn that you travelled all the way from Maribyrnong Hostel to Altona to go to school when there were a number of schools much closer.

Namely, Maidstone, Braybrook and Sunshine

My eldest daughter Simone also went to that school and loved it, but we moved over to Vermont so my other two kids didnt have the pleasure, I alway remember Mr Antinoff, I really liked him. My middle daughter went to the little Pre School near the railway line, as my eldest daughter did, that was great too.

I went to St Mary's in Willy for 3 months and then on to Willy Tech but after I got married I rented a converted garage for a year in Seaholme Ave just behind the school.

We went to St.Mary's the whole 8 months we were in the hostel in 1964. I was in grade 6, Martin was in grade 3 and Colette was in grade 2. What I didn't know was that there was a little boy named Bruce in Prep, who I was going to marry 22 years later. Laughing
