looking back, to 1964 at Dundas it seems to me that as an 8 year old all we ever did was play out. Huge games of kick- the -can that went on for hours, with nearly every kid on the hostel playing. Fifty aside football matches, with around ten boys on the ball at any one time! Cricket was played, but you were very lucky to get to bat, or bowl for that matter! At that time a popular game was marbles. Marbles was currency, you could swap them for comics, or toy soldiers or anything realy, espetialy if you had a "steely" (large ball bearing) Skate boards were good, home made out of rollerskates and a old plank. I'm sure there were lots of other activites, none of them seems to have been organized, just on the spur of the moment. Athough I had a sister I dont recall what the girls got up to. Apart from Barby dolls. Go on jog my memory, what did you get up to? |
