Feeling sadly nostalgic today as on this day 2nd April 1973 ,(38 years ago) was our last full day in Commonwealth Hostel Ltd.The following day we flew home to NZ.I returned to Australia twice ,once in 1975 staying at Westbridge Hostel and a day at East Hills hostel with friends. Also in Sydney with friends as I was in the country for three weeks. In 1979 I returned for a few days and stayed with my son and his family.
My dearest friend in hostels died in January 2011 and we kept in contact all the years till her death writing and ringing each other.I do miss her and we had some wonderful times in the many years our husbands were on the managerial staff .We had to make our own fun as life on the hostel could be lonely for us if we weren't involved in anything.I used to help with things in the sports area at some of the hostels.But my friend and I were in the Art Society together and of course many times we were far from each other in different hostels.But together with our husbands we had a friendship we never would have had if we hadn't met in hostels.

Nice one Phyl and I'm sorry to hear about your friend. You must have befriended loads of people over those years.
