Hello to all. I'm Pete Ashby, one of the 6 Ashby kids on Cabra from 60-62 although we hung around for much longer. Football was the big magnet keeping most together and breakaway team "Athletics" was the common denominator for me.
You can still find Jack Campbell, Fred Taylor and yours truly at the Marconi Club in Bossley Park every Saturday afternoon waffling shite but it's great fun. Please join us, teatotallers welcome, but it would be baffling if sober.
I remember Dave Dalyrimple, Angela and Christine Watson, Dave Twentyman, Steve Barker (still see him often) and of course the 2 aforementioned rascals, Jack and Fred.
I will be able to get a few photos and other memorabilia together shortly as my parents Fred and Audrey (both 82) are both alive and well and living independantly. Mum is a real hoarder, so i can probably scan and publish ship's menus (Orcades) thru to photos of stolen cutlery and plates from the hostel canteen and all accessories including the red trays the canteen offered for those on special diets.
I was 15 years old before i realised the crest on our plates "C of A" was not the Ashby family crest.
I'm married (again) with 4 kids ranging from 10-39 y.o with 2 grandsons 6 and 8 y.o
I remember Neville Pitt and Len Quinn the 2 skips, and spent a lot of time with them as they would almost be my minders as i resided between my house at Kemps Creek and my second home of the hostel Rec.
My brother Rob is at Umina on the Central Coast, sister Pat is at North Queensland but the rest are still around western Sydney.
Will relate a few stories a little later.
Cheers and good luck Pete Ashby

I don't suppose your mother's booty included one of those ugly plastic sugar shakers by any chance? I think ours were yellow and white.

Our sugar shakers were glass with a silver dome for the shaky bit. Saw them for years thereafter in every Melbourne cafe.
