We came to Australia from England in 1968 on the Castel Felice. Originally we were sent to Villawood - never forget the Nissen huts! - then Dad got a job at Matraville so we transferred to Bunnerong.
We were - Margaret and Basil Painter, and four kids - Lynda (me aged 12.5 at the time), Delma, Joannna and Andrea the baby at 3.
I think we were there for about 18months then we moved to a flat in Hillsdale.
My bestfriend lived in Frost St - Denise Hall, with her parents Margaret and Ron.
I have been a bit of a gypsy since and now live in SA. Mum and Dad took the rest of the family to NZ in 1974. |
