On reflection - that is the new bridge under construction and the pile driver is there for that. I now recall the steel supports they hammered in are in the pic and then they filled them with concrete. |

Not to be too picky, but I assume by new bridge,you mean the second bridge, known by most of the East Hills Hostel Migrants. There have actually been at least three bridges in the same spot.
The current Steel bridge construction was completed in 2003.:) _________________ East Hills Hostel Aug 1966 to 1968. Nissen Huts 81 and 83d |

I too remember the time when the old bridge broke in the centre....a long drive around to East Hills township.
But worse, was tiny boats/Ferry that they used to get us across to go to school when the river was in flood...skilful skippering, sure, but quite scary! |
