I watched today an excellent 3 part DVD produced by SBS television here in Oz on Emigration from Federation of Australia n 1901 to current times.
It was made in 2010. Fascinating look at the history of emigration in Australia and all the politics involved in it and is a good insight into the cultural development of our nation.
Great footage of emigration ships, including the very first arriving in Melbourne, the Mir. Also the Oriana from late 1950's.
I may have accidently copied it.......

Thank you for this. It is apparently still available to watch (at least in Australia) at http://www.sbs.com.au/immigrationnation/
