when we arrived 1960 until we left 1963 the only pub close by was in Warrawong 6 miles away so if you wanted a beer after work you would have to get off the bus taking you to the hostel from the steel works if you were on day shift have a few beers it was 6,0clock closing then and catch another bus to the hostel you would have missed dinner by then but if you told the kitchen staff you were going to be late they would keep you a dinner in the oven great staff. Getting fed up with this the men on the hostel formed a menss club and would by beer in and then ell it to members the would play darts ,cards and have a good time .

Welcome to the forum and hope you find much pleasure in memories. We were at Berkeley the same time as you .My husband Tony Hobbs was House Manager.Do you remember him at all?

It is wonderful of Len for giving us a place to share our stories.
