Hi all, my name is ketth gallagher & with my 2 brothers (ron & dave), my sister (jean) & parents (andy & nora), left salford in june 1960 & landed melbourne july 1960, went straight to brooklyn hostel & lived in nissan huts for approx 18 months, then moved to sydney. great memories of the hostel, my brothers & i all played football & cricket for the hostel, we were coached in football by a crackin bloke from scotland, mr wilson, some names i recall are, john & hugh wilson, who came from a large family, chris gubby, david studely, remember the gym, the kiosk opp the gym, the canteen, where my mother worked, wool stores, playground & bothwicks abbattoirs, when wind was blowing the wrong way it was putrid but we had a lot of fun riding the sheep & pinching their plastic ear lugs, best part for me though was the inter hostel sports days, like a mini olympic games, if any remember us or those days would love to hear from them, cheers |
