Hello Fellow Migrants !
My name is Cliff and I arrived at Station Pier aboard the SS Oriana in April 1965 at the age of 6 (nearly 7) with my parents Eric and Muriel and my three older sisters Judith, Linda and Paula (Gail). We were then ushered of to our new abode at Fishermans Bend Port Melbourne. Our new home for the next few months consisted of a tin corrugated Nissun hut! The conditions were extremely harsh for all whom resided there, as each hut was split into three
separate units for three families. However the toilets and showers were outside at a communal wash house!!
Both my father and mother and Linda worked at C.A.C Commonwealth Aircraft, Judith got a job at Myers and Paula and myself went to school at Elwood.

I am trying to organize a 50th anniversary of our arrival into Australia for my family and was wondering if anyone can assist with address of just where the old hostel used to stand. I know it was somewhere around Lorimer st,Hall st and Ingles st.

And any other info that we could relate back to our grandchildren.
