Hi
My name is Jacqueline Simpson (nee Grimmer)
My parents emigrated to Heathcote rd Hostel Hammondville around 1965. I was about 5, my brother Ian was about 1 yr and my mum was expecting my younger brother. My mum and dad are Malcolm & Carol Grimmer. My dad was a butcher for the short amount of time we were there as they decided to come back before my brother was born.
I can remember certain things about the hostel. Having to queue in the canteen for food and being in a small one bedroomed chalet.
My mum recalls having to wash the bath out in the toilet blocks before we could have a bath.

Just found a medical bill I had of when I was ill and found we were in hut 11d

The day we arrived in our hostel, Dad had to clean the bath as someone had lit a fire in it. Laughing
