The photo below is of a staff Christmas party held in the canteen around 1969. Not all the people in the photo actually stayed at the hostel, some where locals that just worked there.
Lets see if we can put names to these faces?

Hi Phyl
I lost all my uploaded images when my other forums host changed hands. But I will try and get them back. I dont even have any backups of them because my hard drive also pack-in a few months ago and I had to get a new pc. Fortunately I do have backups of my sites etc.
This was the image that was being display but without the added numbers. It was supplied by Christine Rush (Holroyd).

The lady to the far left is my mother Brenda Cowan. We have this photogragh and would not have noticed her unless i had checked our copy. At the time she worked in the kitchen having prevoiusly worked as a cleaner for Mrs Barr. |

Hi Tony, glad you made it.
My mother Mary is the one with the blond hair and shes crouched behind the four fellows in the front row. Mary also worked in the hostels canteen.

len i recognised your mother Mary and Rita Woodhouse, has we have that photo . We think the lady on the second row forth in is Alma Brown who was a resident and worked for Mrs Barr. The photo must have been, if Christmas, 1968, as we left that new year for Adelade and another new life. |

Seeing as I lost my original, Ive now gone and put a new photo in my fist post along with the added numbers. I should have done this ages ago but you kow how it is.
At least now, it should make life a little easier.

So Your mum worked in the canteen Len.
That probably goes a little way to answering the perpetual residents question, how come there are never enough butter cubes?

Thats probably because they were all collected and stored in our huge fridge, along with a large beaker of milk. I remember we had a large, very large plastic beaker 'with lid' and it was filled daily with fresh milk.
