Having acquired google earth and quite naturally having done some local exploring. Ive discovered many changes to the area from what I remember. So I thought it might be interesting and a bit of fun Sad really for those of us who can remember what was what and point out some of the changes.
Berkeley road for a start:
I remember Berkeley road as a narrow county road, a bit of a short cut to Berkeley as the main route at the time was through Unanderra. Wed walked over to Berkeley along that quiet road many times. If you were heading towards Berkeley from Five Islands road there were probably only about two or three small industrial units on the left and I also seam to remember there was a Crematorium? On the right hand side of the road, where the freeway and industrial park is now situated there was nothing, only paddocks. There was a bloke that used to use those paddocks for flying his model radio controlled aeroplanes and we would stand and watch for a while. I wonder if he still flies his planes today.
The locals are going to think we're mad. hehe
