Hi - I lived with my two brothers, mother and sister who was born whilst we were there on the hostel from 1952-55. Dad was in the RN and transferred to the RAN in 1951. He lived on board to save money but joined us on weekends.
I have many stories.

I should have added that when we left the hostel in 1955 we only moved up the road to the Naval Estate and lived there until 1961 when we moved to Canberra - the year I finished high school.
I know the area well - used to spend most weekends in the bush or avoiding the military police when we raided the army dump at Holsworthy. Their Harleys were no match for a 28" Speedwell through the bush!
Have sent a couple of pics. |

I should also say up front that I now work (and have for the last 5 years) in the Department of Immigration and Citizenship in Canberra and will be retiring from here in the next couple of years.

Hi Barkly,
Just had a peek at your family history site. Very good too. Interesting because I'm also a genealogist and love family history. All the best with your book. _________________ Kind regards,
