Leny/Lenie (?) Smit and Hendrika van Oost, who, together with Henny Haak, were part of our little gang that almost seemed like something out of children's novels, from those days.

We explored the little bit of bush that was part of the grounds and had our clubhouse there.
I have passed on the photo of Leny, Henny and myself sitting outside the then brand-new Chester Hill North Public School, to the school's principal, when, in 2008, the 50 years celebration was held.
I was also friends with the Arentz boys, leaning against a pole, in Villawood Hostel, with Robert and being in hostel buildings in Port Stephens, on a holiday from Matraville Hostel, with his younger brother.
