hi aussie trekker. I see one of the families names was Tibos. Peter, Paul Alison Daivid and the baby Jacqui. I was born in 65 just after they left the hostel. Peter is passed away now as are mum and dad but the others are all doing really fine. Theres also another younger brother James. We grew up in Broadmeadows so your spot on with your memory. I grew up hearing all the funny stories from the hostel and always felt like l had missed out on an adventure. Just reading these threads has brought back some childhood memories of a child who didnt even live there, so thanks very much.

Does anyone remember the Sanderson family???? I think the oldest girl's name was Beryl, then there was Pat she was my friend had a white horse from the riding school in willy kept it tethered in the paddock adjacent to the park near the kindergarten????? we used to take it back to the riding school every weekend she also had 2 twin baby brothers BOYS, can't remember if there were anymore kids, they lived at the end of the same row as the hermits who lived at the end near the petrol tanks, also a John & julie Myerscough lived in the same row had 2 small girls and then had a baby boy on the hostel named him Paul I used to mind the kids for them.

The Hesketh's have been located, and Mrs Hesketh was able to remember a couple of names that I didn't remember (can't remember them again now, lol), and she is also in touch with Mrs Morris, so that's two more we've found.

Anyone remember a family named Starbrook? My sister met a girl a few years ago who reckoned she was in the hostel in 1964. Went to Seaholme school, but caught hepatitis and wasn't out much.

Nope, that name does not evoke any memories for me, but then if she was at state school in 1964 she was obviously a lot younger than me.

Do any of the gang remember the FRADLEY family, there was the eldest boy Allan, and sister Margaret whom I went out with for a while. There was also another family who lived in the same side huts as the Heaney family, and their name was Watson, I remember the dad had a part time job on the hostel picking up papers with a length of wood like a broom handle with a nail in the bottom of it so he would*nt have to bend, and he carried a hessian sack where he put the papers. Does anybody else remember. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy with regards DannyMcKeeman aka flyinsctsman.

I remember the Watsons, they were from Belfast and had loads of kids. They lived at the end unit nearest the creek. Their Dad had worked at the refinery. and I have a vague recollection that he may have been off on compo due to an injury. There was a boy named Robert. I remember the kids showing me all the toys they'd got at the refinery Christmas party, and thinking how lucky they were- soon after, my Dad joined the refinery, (and stayed until he retired) so we got a Christmas party and presents for a few years after, we thought it was the greatest.

Does anyone remember that really weird family, they were a huge family and really old fashioned, The eldest boy had a crystal radio set, the only person I ever knew with one, they looked so funny walking into the canteen in single file and dowdy dowdy clothes, I don't remember there names as they didnt mix much, but they were weird
