Hi Eileen. I would have loved to join in the reunion but unfortunatly wont be able to go! I've only been back to Aus once in 2006, with the family. Mum & Dad are there at the moment and are due back on 20th April, so will just miss out!....I keep saying to my children they must visit...How old were you when you lived in Aus? I was only very young but still have memories! _________________ Wonderful happy memories! |

Hi Jill, I was 6 yrs old when we went there and 8 when i left. I have taken my two daughters over when they was young, last year took my granddaughter. I love to go for holiday and visit my sisters. I would have liked to have gone to visit Altona but maybe another time. we lived there from 1963 to 65 _________________ Eileen Griffin |

I've got a feeling that this reunion won't be the last. We can get together if anyone is visiting from OS. Jill, if your folks are in Melbourne, maybe a few of us could meet them before they leave. |

Hi Elieen....I have only been back the once, in 2006, with mum & dad & brother Paul. We went to visit the Hostel....Its funny but after all the years, and being so young, my memories just came back!...I especially remember the wide gutters, which run along the outside of the huts..I used to play in these!..and someone mentioned the bridge, which took you to the beach.. I remember going across that and being terrified, as there were planks missing!!...We also went to Williamstown to vist the hospitial where Paul was born!...I'll try to get some photos and post them on the site!.. _________________ Wonderful happy memories! |

Hi Jill, yes i too remember the bridge with the planks missing. Williams town, i don't remember much of it but i do remember my mum used to take me to a cafe and buy me a chocolate milkshake. And going on the boats with a gang of kids when i should have been in school...
Yes its been a long winter this year, I'm sick and fed up with it. It's no wonder us British go crazy when the hot sunny weathers here, makes me laugh when i go in work you see people walking round looking like lobsters _________________ Eileen Griffin |

Don't knock it,I am over this hot weather,we don't seem to be getting a break and I think we have all forgotten what a good down pour looks like,if it doesn't rain soon,I think Victoria is just going to dry up completely and blow away....oh for some of your snow right now!!! _________________ Carol Myers Altona Hostel Dec 1962 - June 1964 |
