DOREEN HAVE JUST SEEN YOUR PHOTOS FROM THE SIXTIES - VERY INTERESTING. I AM TRYING TO FIND PHOTOS OF EARLY 50S WELL BEFORE YOUR TIME. HOWEVER I NOTE THAT YOU HAVE A PHOTO TAKEN IN THE GRANSTAND AND ANOTHER WITH THE GRANDSTAND AND OLD TOTE BUILDING IN THE BACKGROUND, IN 1952 WE WERE ACTUALLY IN NISSEN (METAL ARMY) HUTS ADJACENT TO THE GRANDSTAND ON THAT SIDE OF THE CREEK. I AM WONDERING IF IN THE SIXTIES ALL SIGNS OF THE HOSTEL THAT SIDE OF THE CREEK HAD IN FACT GONE APART FROM THE GRANDSTAND AND TOTE. WOULD BE INTERESTED IN YOUR COMMENTS AND ANY PHOTOS OF THAT SIDE OF THE CREEK. MY PHONE NO. IS 0398177599 IF YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO RING. DENIS ALLEN

they are Doreens photos but Doreen doesnt get onto facebook as she doesnt have a computer and isnt interested in this technology. I was on the hostel from November 61 till June 63 and there was not evidence at all over by the grandstand of any Nissan huts.

Hi Dennis, from my memory, absolutely nothing. No sign of any hostel other than the one we lived in on the road side of the creek.

Hey Fantastic Photos, I now recollect the name Susan Frost as Carol ( My Sister) used to talk about her all the time!

Does anyone Remember a lass called Yvonne Toohey?
Frank Mc Manus and I went to the Kindergarten with her and she was the Hostel managers' Daughter but when we lived in Laverton Frank brought me a newpaper to school and it apparently showed her murder was this the same Yvonne Toohey?

I also remember bonfire night that was literalty Flaming Terrific

The Frost's moved to Braybrook, and lived in the same street as us. Lyn was my age, and Susan a couple of years older. Not sure where she is now, but I believe Lyn lives in Caroline Springs.

Hi aussietrecker next time you see Frank say to him Jimmy Logan says hello and watch the look on his face! I remember when we first arrived Mum handing me a kettle and saying "here go fill that up" but instead I met Frank Mc Manus and he gave me a guided tour of the hostel kettle in hand.I eventually got back with it and was forever relieved of kettle filling duty but became instant mates with Frank. both families moved to the boom town of Laverton and we were mates for years I guess we still are.
