Hello. My name is Jill Myerscough. I Lived on the Hostel with my Mum, Dad & sister Julie form 1963 - 1966. My brother Paul was born there!. My dad was known as Beatle John, as we were form Liverpool, U.K. and he had the typical Beatles hair cut!...This site has revived my memories of a fun time at the Hostel. My sister went to Seaholm School, I was in the nursery on the site as mum & dad both worked. I now live in Liverpool UK but I went back to visit Aus & the Hostel, with my Mum,Dad & Brother in 2006....Couldnt understand why we came home?? My Mum and Dad are actually in Aus at the moment, on holiday...But unfortunatly will not be available for the reunion, as they will be crusing back to U.K. retracing our journey from all those years ago! ...They have actually given their immigration documents to the Immigration Muesem in Melborne... which I belive they have on display?.... Love to hear form anyone who remembers us? _________________ Wonderful happy memories! |

Hiya Jill,
You are well remembered by several of us on this forum. Such a pity that you won't be available for the re-union. I think quite a few who went back to UK are now wondering why they did so, _________________ Resident of Altona Hostel, 1963-1965 |

I remember you and Julie singing This old man ..all the time it was really cute.My sister used to baby sit for you,her name was Linda Myers, and she was going to see the Beatles with your Dad as your Mum couldnt go as she was heavily pregnant at the time, but we moved to QLD and my Mum wouldnt stay another night so that she could go.I remember your dad well, all the girls thought he was smashing cause he has a real beatles hair cut and came from Liverpool _________________ Carol Myers Altona Hostel Dec 1962 - June 1964 |

Hello to everyone!..Thanks for the reply.
I have txt mum & dad re the forum site and mum replied to say she remembered a lot of the people and especially Linda Myers, as she used to babysit for us! Mum has loads of slide photos of Aus and the Hostel and some of you are probably on them somewhere?...As soon as they return form their holiday down under, I will have to arrange a 'showing' and mum & dad can point out everyone!..My brother Paul (named after Paul McCartney) is always insisting we have a family show, so no excuses now!... _________________ Wonderful happy memories! |

Hi Jill
Well I can't believe it I gave the photo of your brother Paul to our Carol to post on this forum before I used to come on and post. It is great to make contact with you and hopefully your Dad & Mum at some later date, how did you find out about the forum? you will have to go to the Altona Hostel link and post on there, lots of people posting now who will remember you all. I used to look after you girls when your dad and Mum went out, all the memories of the hostel are flooding back with everyone contributing their own memories it is fantastic, keep posting.
