I've just been contacted by a journalist from a newspaper that services the Altona region, wishing to do an article on our reunion. I've arranged to meet her @ the Technopark on Wednesday at 1.30pm for a photo etc.
Would anyone else be available at that time? She's optimistic about getting a small group- 3 or 4 would be great. The newspaper comes out the following Tuesday, and it will be a good way to put our Historical Society out there in case other ex-hostellers wish to contact us. |

Sorry I will be at work on Wed and will not be able to make it. I have also put out feelers with our media guy to contact the Herald Sun and the Age to see if they are also interested in covering the reunion but Im not holding my breath on that happening, but it would be a nice little surprise if they turned up on the day |

Ah well, I wasn't expecting too much, especially at this short notice.
But I'll be happy to go along and do the deed- you know what I'm like when I start talking!
She's going to ring me this morning and do a phone interview. |

Another newspaper wants to do the deed. Looks like I'll be flitting up to Willy again. |

They said they would love to come, but they're all tied up with covering sporting events on a Saturday.
Did a photo with the Star yesterday, standing by the palm tree at the creek.
Today I'm doing one for the Hobson's Bay Leader.
Two drives up from Geelong but it's worth it.
Also have a Dr's appointment in Atona tomorrow, hope I won't be too knackered for Saturday. |

So sorry I coulnd't make it over, but as you know, I look after my granddaughter's during the week. Maybe we can send a photo or three from the reunion, and the papers can print them later, so that next year we may have more people made aware. We WILL have more get togethers and reunions. _________________ Resident of Altona Hostel, 1963-1965 |

The newspapers are out today, haven't seen the articles yet but we've had our first response, it's from Diane Young who was in the hostel 1963-64. She's mightily disappointed that she missed Saturday, somehow she thought it was in September. Anyway, not having a computer she is going to try and look us up at the library, and I will ring her when something else is happening. |

Mum was asking where they were at the reunion as she thought they were going to be there. Shame that some of us don't have computers, but as you say, they can go to the library or to an internet cafe easily enough. _________________ Resident of Altona Hostel, 1963-1965 |
