Reading all of the posts it stricks me just how many migrants returned to the UK.
When I arrived I was just 12 years old[3days after arrivig at East Hills Hostel]. I have never considred going back although I would enjoy visiting some time. My father passed away long before he could have gone back. My mother has been back 4 times, my brother once.
I married a Scott that arrived in 1952, she has never been back and is not bothered about returning.
I remember men and women cying when we arrived at East Hills and imesdiatly deciding that they would not stay here.
It is reall a shame for all those people to travel half way around the world and find that Australia wasnt to there licking. |
