Spaan family   1957-1958

 The Spaan family arrived at Unanderra in 1957-1958 from Bonagilla, a Migrant hostel in Albury, Victoria.They had originally come from Holland. There was Sonja her brother Richard (Dick) and their parents Margaret and Dirk. They stayed at Unanderra Hostel until they moved to Corrimal, where Sonja and her brother went to primary and high school. Since then Sonja now lives in Dapto. Sonja remembers that her mother didn't like the hostel at all because the hostel was very basic (1950's) in particular the food hall was different to what they were used to back home. As for Sonja and her brother they thought it was ok apart from it was very hot in the summer and freezing in the winter.
The photo's Sonja has donated are of herself her brother and her parents there are some old friends on them too, they had also come from Holland.
