Hi everybody,I cant believe I found this forum,I am rapt.I came to Australia in 1963 when I was 10 with my family,I had 1 brother and 1 sister then and we stayed at Altona Hostel in Hut D10 I think,I remember the place vividly and we were there the night the petrol tanks exploded..now that was a night to remember,we had fun on the hostel though,but I suppose as kids you make your own fun no matter where you are.We lived in the hostel for 18 months then we moved to Brisbane and stayed yet again on a hostel in Wacol,that was an experience,we then moved to a hou
ise in Inala and eventually moved back to Melbourne 2 years later,this time we headed for the south eastern suburbs of Dandenong,Hallam and Berwick,still over here.
I will never forget Altona Hostel,lots of stories to tell !!

Hi stormforth welcome to our forums.
I see your settling in nicely and thank you for taking the time in posting. What I have read so far has been very interesting.

As you mentioned the Australis in another post, I'll just say that our family sailed on the SS Australis back in 1967 and in 1973.
