Cliff called last night, and we were talking about this forum,as I had given him the link and he has been on here reading all our posts and he reckons we are all sad gits !!! But any way he mentioned 2 people some of you might remember one was Jimmy McDonald,he was a little scottish lad about the same age as Cliff, apparently he went to live in NZ and became a jockey, the other one is Frank Holt, that one doesnt ring any bells for me,but Jim McDonald does I remember him! _________________ Carol Myers Altona Hostel Dec 1962 - June 1964 |

Just put an ad on the Hobson's Bay events list, and the Immigration Museum page on Facebook. |

Has any one got any idea about numbers for the day, as its getting closer. I,m working on 70. adults plus kids at no charge, This is going to be a hell of a bash, and I'm looking forward to it. Hey Cliff (the silent one you old bugger) leave your sister alone, and are you coming ????????? That would be great if you did decide to jump on a plane and attend the festivites.
Cheers Andy |

OK ex inmates of Altona, Williamstown, Wiltona Hostel.
Update to whats happening on the day, I will be getting there early with the bbq trailer to make sure we have a good parking spot for it, close to the corner of Giffard st. Jack is getting all the meat (sausages, lamb chops, hamburgers, vegie burgers) for the bbq and picking up the trailer packed with all the tables and chairs and rubbish bin (lol) from my place before he heads to Willy, he should be on site by 10.00.
I will be getting all the bread, around 10 loaves should be enough and say 50 rolls.
Also going to organise (with some help) a big, big bag of peeled onions, as you can't have a bbq without them I reckon, Jimmy is a qualified chef and he is also getting there early to help set up and do some cooking, he is also bringing a ghetto blaster for music, but we have to be mindful of the volume as there are houses across the road.
I will also pick up a big bottle of tomatoe sauce and one of bbq sauce and say 6 slabs of soft drinks, coke, orange, lemon, and lemonade. I will do a mix of full strengh and diet to cater for the people on one, (diet) that is
So I am relying on you girls to do the salads ok, chat later, Cheers Andy |

I am doing 2 big bowls of potato and egg salad. I have a few plastic plates, bowls and cups, so I'll bring those and a few items of plastic cutlery also. _________________ Resident of Altona Hostel, 1963-1965 |
