I believe poor Louis died a few years ago. I used to watch him play at Comhltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, which was run by his parents. He went to St Paul's with my brother. |

Louis McManus- he was at the Altona Hostel, went on to St Paul's Altona, and later became a respected musician in the Irish and folk music circles. Died when he was only about 40- I couldn't believe it, poor kid. His parents outlived him. |

Yes, I too knew louis McManus (louey to his mates) He used to play the mandolin and his dad also Louey played the fiddle. The last time they played together that I remember, was at the "Angels Tavern" Glenferrie Hotel. Which at that time was known as a Scottish pub. Not anymore. Regards . |

The parents outlived most of the children. There is only Noreen and Antony left. Antony was born in the hostel in 1964, I remember it well. I went to three of the funerals, including Louis Snr. Margaret and Mary-Jo died in their in their 30's, I think Louis made it to 40. My brother Martin hung around with Louis and was also in the same class at St. Paul's. Louis' funeral was full of well-known musos....and a bloke who turned up with a bald cockatoo on his shoulder. |

A bald cockatoo on his shoulder? That would only happen at a muso's funeral. |
