The scary bits are that you can't recognize the people in their photos and it will be the same at the reunion. I'm sure you wil have fun with it.

I don't expect to recognise anyone really but I do want to be part of the chatter and memory sharing of the hostel itself and possibly document stories or develop oral histories.
I really only remember a few poeple like Morag Bowie (obviously Scottish). I remebr her dad played the bag pipes and I think they took me to somewhere to hear him play. I remeber his kilt and I still love a man in a kilt today!
The others I remember are a Penticostal famility named the Pinch. They ran a Sunday school for years at the hostel and my sister and I would go every week. |

Would Morag Bowie be Jim Bowies sister. Jim is on Friends Reunited.

Hi Carol / David
I would be happy to help in any way I can with the reunion. I will take David's suggestion and go on Friends Reunited to see if I can find anyone I used to know - had quite a social network on the hostel back then and would love to find some of them.
Cheers

Hi Cabramatta folk, it's good to see the stirring of another planned reunion. Organising ours with other hostel friends has been a huge buzz, and meeting up with those who have been available has led to many a good laugh. I wish you well in your endeavours to locate past residents.
Carol, it would be great to have you join us at our reunion, all are welcome. Although we weren't on the same hostel, we did share the hostel experience. We will be starting in the park in Williamstown, opposite the beach and behind the Botanic Garden. There we will have a BBQ lunch then hopefully go to see the old hostel site, which is now a business park.
BTW, I John English DOES get in touch and decides to come to you reunion, you MUST let me know....................I'm a big fan. lol _________________ Resident of Altona Hostel, 1963-1965 |

Give it a try and see who you find.
