Thanks to everyone for your prayers and good wishes- they worked. I'm still very wobbly but managed to cheat death. Was carted away in an ambulance and spent 11 days in Geelong Hospital ( a great way to avoid Christmas!) including an emergency ear operation in the middle of the night. But I wasn't in much discomfort at all once the op was done, and should have felt a lot worse with such an ailment. Still can't do much but Bruce has been fantastic, Victoria comes down when she can, and Angela has finished school for the year and is a great help. We had some tragedy when I was banged up- our budgie died on the Friday, she was almost 10 years old. Then on Monday, my beloved sweetheart Spot (our ginger cat) was having breathing trouble. Bruce took the day off work and took him to the vet, but he had fluid in his lungs and there was nothing they could do for him. He would have been 14 this week, we had him since he was 10 weeks old. So Bruce did two burials, and thankfully I was with the fairies when it happened. The house is too quiet now, we still have Nik the dog and Padma the schizoid Burmese, but I'll miss Spotty for a long time. |

Thanks Olwen. Spot was actually a cat, named after the android's cat on the Starship Enterprise- and he was exactly the same to look at. He had a habit of bringing in plastic bags from the street, or putting them on the doormat by way of a present. Started doing it 10 years ago on Clean up Australia Day. He's brought us all kinds of plastic wrappings over the years, sometimes with stuff inside them (like bolts or Happy Meal toys). There's a scrap of plastic by our door this morning- the wind is reminding me of him. |

Hi haha! When I was a little girl we had a cat who used to bring in mice or a bird or two. Was not happy about the bird though. Cats used to roam around at night in my day. My mum was not at all impressed when he brought home a rat that was nearly as big as himself.
Best wishes....Olwen. |
