My name is jim Robinson we arrived on the hostel october 1954 lived in hut 45A my father Alex mother Winnie brother Raymond 7years old and myself 9 years old. I went to hammondville primary school. I knew just about everybody on the hostel at the time . Ronnie and Alan Forsyth , Peter and Albert wright, Mike and Stephen Bradley, David and Terry Reed, Ron Coleman, Ginger Coe, the Meek family, Ronnie Pugh, Peter Croucher, the Stevenson family, and many more. I am in the photo you have on this site of the 1st. Williams creek scout group. Ronnie and Alan father started the football team Heathcote Hearts as he was from Scotland and he named us after a Scottish team. We won the grand final the first year we in the comp. we were under fourteens. When we first arrived at the camp the Army still occupied part of the camp up near the canteen. I learned to swim in Williams Creek in place we called the rock pool. We also swam in another part of the creek called the crystal it was up near the bridged on Heathcote Road. We lived on the hostel for few years as my father who was a builder, built a house in Liverpool. I think some of the years of my life were spent on the hostel it was a kids paradise . I still know a few people of that phase of my life and I am still good friends a see all the time she then known as Ann Cairns. If anybody was there between 1954 and 1959 please let me know. Regards Jim Robinson. |
