I emigrated from Dublin with my family in May 1971 and attended Hammondville Public School. We stayed at East Hills in Barnard 2 which I recall was a two storey brick building.
I have very fond memories of my time there, getting the bus to school with lunch in a paper bag, dining in the cafeteria (chips on a Friday night!), fishing in the creek and waterhole to the west of complex and meeting people from all over the world. I was eight years old and it was a strange and exciting time hearing all these wonderful new languages and accents. |
