Good morning
Having free access to a genealogy site this weekend I've managed to find out exactly where we lived when we emigrated to Australia!
We made our way there in June 1957 and lived in 8a Heathcote Road Hostel, Hammondville. We enjoyed hostel life while my dad toured Australia looking for work as an actor. Mum worked in a factory, my brother went to school and I was in nursery. Mum made good friends who we went to the beach with. I believe my parents saved to buy a plot of land but my dad decided the grass wasn't greener there and we came back to England three years later. In later life he made his way back there and finally settled in New Zealand. We stayed in England as mum wasn't prepared to uproot the family again.
I have a few photo's to share once I've got the hang of how this forum works. Really looking forward to reading back posts, which might take some time! |
